Bio

Tate Pumfrey grew up in Thamesville, ON and studied at Western University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Music. In 2022 he completed a Master’s Degree in Composition at York University. He apprenticed under organ technician Sylvain Brisson, owner of Orgues S. Brisson Pipe Organs. Sylvain learned the trade under François Caron, former Casavant Representative, and worked for 44 years in organ maintenance. Based in Alexandria, ON, Pumfrey Pipe Organs Inc. was founded in 2025 and services approximately 100 organs in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. 

Tate is an Associate Member of the American Institute of Organ Builders.
